10 Years of Being a Wedding planner
I wanted to share my story of my journey of Susie Evans Weddings Co. Celebrating 10 years in business this month is quite an achievement and something that has been quite emotional to think about. Not a day goes by when Covid isn’t the topic of conversation, whether with industry friends, family or even having your hair (finally!) cut and coloured at the hairdressers!
the toughest yet most rewarding year as a wedding planner
We are slowly coming out the other end and I spy a bright light at the end of a tunnel. There is no doubt about it that this has been one of the toughest years emotionally for me and all my colleagues and friends in the industry but if I am honest, I am coming out far more positive about it all. The last 14 months have taught me so much and through the trials and tribulations I do honestly believe I have come out so much stronger personally and my business is stronger than it has ever been. It has been pure determination, resilience and hard work that has generated the successes.
10 years as a surrey wedding planner
Planning weddings for a decade has been the best career move I made. Having been a stylist for many years and selling my successful business about six years ago so I could focus wholly on my wedding planning business was the best decision ever.
In ten years, I have planned in excess of eighty events and more recently in the last 3 years, specialised in marquee weddings.
My experience stems from small intimate weddings, weddings in Tuscany and Portugal right through to large weddings at home in a marquee.
Even though I have been planning weddings for a decade, I am still learning every day. Although, one thing that has really been cemented in what I love most about my job is that family and friends are at the heart and forefront of every wedding. We work so closely together that we become friends.
WHAT DID I DO BEFORE I BECAME A EDDING PLANNER?
So, what did I do before I got into wedding planning I hear you say? I have been in the financial world since my early twenties. Working in investment banking and finished in the insurance world prior to launching my business. My career did start off in childcare as I was a qualified Nursery Nurse but soon realised I wanted a something a little more challenging in my life.
There is not a day I look back as my life as a wedding planner and consultant is so varied from wedding planning to venue consultancy, every day is different.
WEDDING PLANNER SURREY
Now 10 years in, I am well known in Surrey for delivering fabulous weddings specialising in marquee weddings at home across the UK.
Marquee weddings at home are more logistically challenging and this is what drives me as every one of these weddings is different. They are real family affairs and this is something that is so important to me.
MY LAST YEAR AS A WEDDING PLANNER
In September 2020, right in the heart of Covid I made the best decision ever to take on my new partner in crime Libby. Libby has a vast background in events and extensive knowledge of the catering side if the business. Libby keeps me in check and has been the best business decision I could have made. It has been strange at times as having worked for myself for so many years, I now have to consider another arm to the business but Libby keeps me in check and we are the perfect combination as our attributes and expertise really do complement each other.
We really do have the best year ahead of us with some amazing marquee weddings at home and working at such as Loseley Park, Northbrook, Firle Place, The Barn at Botley Hill and many more.
Now we are ready for what lies ahead of us this year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continued support, love and without you all my business wouldn’t be where it is today.
WITH LOVE
SUSIE X
